🕊️ Resolution #2055: Recognition of the State of Palestine

What it does: Calls on the United States to immediately recognize the State of Palestine within its internationally recognized borders and demands the withdrawal of Israeli forces and settlers from occupied territories.

Why it matters: For over 75 years, Palestinians have been denied self-determination. This resolution moves beyond vague support for a “two-state solution” to demand concrete action: an end to occupation, apartheid, and settlement expansion. It affirms that true peace requires justice and equal rights for all people in the region.

🚫 Resolution #2005: Embargo on Military Aid to Israel

What it does: Supports an immediate embargo on all military aid, weapons shipments, and logistical support to Israel until independent human rights organizations (Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem) certify that apartheid practices have ended.

Why it matters: Billions in U.S. taxpayer dollars have fueled violence in Gaza and the West Bank. This resolution aligns Texas Democrats with the growing majority of voters who believe our resources should address domestic needs—like healthcare and education—rather than supporting actions that violate international law.

⚖️ Resolution #2004: Ending Complicity in Genocide

What it does: Calls for an arms embargo against any country facing open genocide cases at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). It also urges Texas institutions—including public universities and pension funds—to disassociate from companies complicit in genocide.

Why it matters: The ICJ has found it plausible that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. As signatories to the Genocide Convention, we have a legal and moral obligation to prevent and punish such crimes. This resolution ensures Texas stands on the side of international law and human dignity, joining major labor unions in demanding accountability.

📋 Resolution #2165: Civil Rights for MENA Texans

What it does: Mandates a separate Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) category on all Texas government forms, distinct from the “White” category. It also qualifies MENA-owned businesses for Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certifications and contracting preferences.

Why it matters: For decades, MENA Americans have been statistically erased by being classified as White, despite facing Islamophobia, xenophobia, and systemic discrimination. This resolution ensures accurate data collection and unlocks vital economic opportunities for MENA entrepreneurs in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio.

🗳️ Resolution #2018: Opposing Foreign Influence in Democratic Party Elections and Policy

What it does: Recognizes the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) as foreign-aligned lobbying organizations, and urges Democratic candidates, elected officials, and party leaders to pursue congressional and legal scrutiny of their activities under lobbying-disclosure and foreign-agent statutes. It encourages county and congressional district Democratic Party organizations to adopt implementing rules consistent with the resolution.

Why it matters: Foreign-aligned political spending distorts our elections and drives foreign policy that contradicts core Democratic values of equality, justice, and international law. This resolution affirms the party’s commitment to free, fair, and independent elections—and to a foreign policy accountable to the American people, not to any foreign government.
